This is not the happiest post, and I just want to warn anyone who reads it before you do. Last night, I attended a Halloween party at my friend Kalena's house. I left the party around 1, and I'm so very glad that I did. Apparently, around 1:40, a fire broke out at the house across her street. The mother, father, and one child made it out safely. Unfortunately, the family had two children who were stuck inside the house. The one boy is currently at Akron Children's Hospital. The other boy, 5 year-old Owen, didn't survive the fire. Kalena called me early this morning to let me know what had happened, and she described the event in pretty great detail. I'll leave those out of my blog, but needless to say, it was a traumatic experience. My heart is aching for the family, and also for my friend who had to deal with the turmoil of the fire. I am glad that nothing happened to her and her friends, but I'm devastated that she had to live through it. I really am not one to watch the news, but occasionally do. When I see the stories about fires, I always wonder how something like this happens. I never think about what occurs when it is happening, though. Today, the horror hit me. I don't often make pleas for thoughts from my blog readers, but I'm asking for it tonight. Please keep the family in mind, as they deal with the loss of their little boy.
